Mould is one of the biggest problems you face following water damage.

When water is not entirely removed from the carpet or underlay it is quite easy for mould to form.

Mould leads to poor air quality and can cause respiratory problems including asthma, allergies, sinus issues and can lead to severe illness. Wet carpet can all lead to costly damage to your homes structure and can cause electrical hazards.

Within the first visit our technicians will assess the damage, extract any excess water using our wet/dry vacuums and lift carpets as required. If carpet has been deemed to be beyond salvage that will cut out and remove the damage carpet, underlay and smoothedge and arrange for disposal. Air mover dryers are placed under the carpet to quickly remove excess water and encourage drying from the ground up. As excessive moisture can be present throughout the affected area and not just the carpet a dehumidifier can be used to remove moisture from the environment. This also helps speed up the drying time and limits the growth of harmful mould and mildew within the carpet and other spaces.

The technician returns daily to perform moisture readings and to reposition equipment as required to ensure efficient drying. Once the technician determines the readings are normal and dry they will proceed in relaying any carpet as required and removing equipment. Water marks are treated with a high pressure steam clean and the area is sanitised and deodorised to remove any odours present.

Throughout the process we will take photos of the damage and can supply reports for insurance claims.

Clean Water (Category 1)

This is sanitary water and does not pose health risks. Clean Water comes from a clean source e.g. rain through the roof, burst pipe, overflow of bath with no soap, burst hot water system, fire sprinkler system. (water damaged carpet and underlay may be salvaged)

Grey Water (Category 2)

This is water that is not entirely clean and pose some risk such as dishwasher and washing machine water. Grey Water comes from fish tanks, washing machines, dishwashers, baths with soap, punctured water beds. (water damaged carpet may be salvage, underlay must be replace)

Black Water (Category 3)

Grossly contaminated water which can contain pathogens. Black Water comes from sewage, toilet back-flows, and all forms of sea water, ground surface water or streams. Raw sewage is mainly gray or black water. It usually contains the organic waste and waste produced by household and industrial sources. Sewage typically contains everything from soap to solid waste, industrial effluent and debris. It is discharged by drains and sewer lines. Unlike damage caused by clear water, the risks are higher, as the water is contaminated with bacteria. Porous materials, such as carpet, underlay, upholstery, etc. must be discarded as they will hold contamination and bacteria. Ceramic tile and vinyl may be salvaged if dried, cleaned and disinfected. (Water damaged carpet and underlay must be removed)
