kinesiology put simply

therapy that helps alleviate stress and much more.
Kinesiology comes from the Greek words for the study of movement.
In the 1960s an American Chiropractor developed a system to evaluate body functioning by blending eastern philosophy with western knowledge of human anatomy. Essentially, he discovered that each muscle relates to an organ (e.g.liver) or system (e.g. digestive) in the body.
How it works
Our central nervous system (CNS) includes our spinal cord and our brain. Every muscle in our body is connected to our CNS via nerves. Our sensory nerves carry information from our muscles to the CNS(affect)while motor nerves, carry information away from CNS to our muscles(effect). Our body informs our mind, and when our body is in a state of ‘stress’, our decisions, response and behaviours are influenced. Generally, a client will come to a kinesiologist with a health concern or goal in mind. Kinesiology can help with a range of issues including:
- Working on a goal e.g.career change
- Digestive imbalances
- Depression
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Pain (physical, emotional and mental)
- Immune imbalances
- Physical injury or recurring pain
- Emotional healing.
During a session, the kinesiologist will use muscle monitoring to locate any imbalances or stress. When the body is out of balance, the flow of energy in the body is impacted. The kinesiologist will then work to bring the body into a state of balance using techniques such as:
- Massaging, holding, rubbing and tapping acupressure points(refer to post of heart-self points)
- Muscular release using movement and breath
- Relaxation and breath work
- Flower essences
- Sound via tuning forks
- Visualisation techniques
- Reframing belief systems
- Affirmations and goals.
Kinesiology and me
I knew very little about kinesiology before I tried it. I was aware that my body was holding emotional and physical tension but didn’t have a sense of what it related to, or how to releaseit. My regular kinesiology sessions slowly peeled away layers of stress from my physical body and allowed me to safely work through emotional issues I had blocked for years. My physical pain is no longer, and I now deal with my emotional issues as they arise. Kinesiology really does work.It can sometimes be uncomfortable to face our pain and fear, but the positive outcomes outweigh these challenges.
I am now a fully qualified kinesiologist and inspired to help others using this amazing therapy
